Govt Announces EPRA Will Reduce Fuel Prices
On Sunday, April 14, the National Government declared that later in the day on Sunday, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) would lower fuel prices.
“Today at 3:00 pm, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Agency (EPRA) will make a significant announcement regarding the decrease in fuel prices! President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza party is really keeping its word, Mwaura said.
Every month on the fourteenth, EPRA examines retail fuel prices. EPRA lowered the price of Super Petrol by Ksh7.21 on March 14. Kerosene was cut by Ksh4.49 and diesel by Ksh 5.09.
As a result, the retail price of fuel in Nairobi is currently Ksh199.15 for Super Petrol, Ksh190.38 for Diesel, and Ksh188.74 for Kerosene.
Fuel prices will continue to decline in 2024 as a result of EPRA’s April announcement, which comes after the announcement made by Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura.
In October 2023, when gasoline retailed for Ksh217.36 per litre, diesel for Ksh205.47, and kerosene for Ksh204.46 per litre in Nairobi, EPRA last raised fuel prices.
Since then, there has been a notable decrease in the price of fuel and other necessities, which has lowered living expenses.
President William Ruto disclosed on March 14 that the price decrease was the result of measures his administration had put in place rather than a coincidence.
Pump prices are being lowered at a time when the value of the Kenyan shilling relative to the US dollar, the primary medium of exchange for global trade, is rising.
