Gov’t announces new salary payment criteria

The government has declared that it will begin paying milk farmers salaries every 15 days (bimonthly) to recognize their agricultural efforts.

In a Monday, April 8, 2024, speech during a tour of the Eldoret National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) stores, President William Ruto said that this action will empower farmers.

When Ruto announced this change, he assured farmers that, in contrast to previously, they would begin receiving payments every 30 days in July 2024.

The head of state went on to say that just like salaries, the payments will be made on time at the end of each month.
Ruto did, however, pledge that his administration would move forward with plans to pay farmers every fifteen days.

President Ruto ordered that, as part of additional reforms to the milk sector, the government would begin paying Ksh50 for each litre of milk at the end of April.

Regarding the broader agricultural industry, Ruto disclosed that his administration was looking for ways to further reduce the cost of fertilizer that is subsidized.

“I said I would take care of the fertilizer problem. You are now paying Ksh2,500 for a bag that used to retail for Ksh6,000. Please offer up prayers for me so that I can cut even more next year,” he said.

He went on to say that he had heard complaints from Kenyans regarding seeds they had purchased from Kenya Seeds Company. As a result, he claimed to have implemented reforms and new management at the State Corporation to guarantee that Kenyans received high-quality seeds.
