With regard to the primary school teachers who scored a C plain general grade on their KCSE examination certificates, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has pledged to begin a new chapter in their career.
The commission states that teachers who progressed to a degree in education and scored a C plain will receive letters of deployment to junior schools. TSC announced earlier this term that primary school teachers with a degree in education would be eligible for a total of 6000 deployment slots. Interested parties must apply by March 18, 2024. Those who fulfilled the requirements and filed their applications will have the opportunity to start junior school deployment in May 2024.
Teachers who are deployed will have the chance to improve in their careers and get higher pay. TSC stated that by releasing the deployment slots, the instructors who will be sent will contribute to addressing the teacher shortage that junior schools in the nation are now experiencing since their founding in 2023. Additionally, the government has stated that funds have been put aside to hire 46,000 junior school teachers when the financial budget 2024–2025 is announced in July 2024.
The legislative budget head, member of parliament Ndindi Nyoro, reports that TSC would receive funding this year to hire 26,000 teacher interns on permanent and pensionable terms. The congressman also disclosed that 20,000 more new intern teachers will be incorporated into the new system.
