KWS Announces National Cadet Recruitment
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has declared that it will begin hiring 1,500 officers—assistant wardens and forest rangers—for cadet positions.
KWS released a notification on Tuesday, March 19, regarding the upcoming recruitment drive, which is anticipated to occur across the nation. The exercise is scheduled for Monday, April 15, 2024, through Friday, April 19, 2024. KWS stated in the notice that it works in remote areas and is looking to hire the following kinds of young, energetic people in total:
. Cadets (Assistant Warden I): 150 slots
. Rangers: 1,350 available slots. The military made clear that recruits must be able to withstand the demands of training and deployment to different conservation zones.
The new hires will be responsible for protecting wildlife and addressing the nation’s present problems in stages.Be aware that there will be no cost associated with this exercise, making it available to all Kenyans.
Requirements for Cadets recruitment
Candidates for this post must be citizens of Kenya and be under 28 years old. They should also be in good health and have no criminal record at all.
The specific academic qualifications needed include a Bachelor’s degree minimum of second class honours lower division from recognized institutions in the following areas;
- Wildlife Management
- Natural Resources Management
- Environmental Science
- Range Management
- Veterinary Medicine
- Criminology & Security Management
- Tourism Management
- Education
- Sociology
- Community Development
The candidates who will be shortlisted will be required to be taken through a mandatory paramilitary training for nine months before they get deployment to various stations.
Recruitment Requirements for Rangers.
Age of candidate applicants must be from 18 and 26 years bracket.
Physical and medical fitness is a requirement and should have no criminal record.
The minimum specific Academic qualifications is a D (plain) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
Rangers are hired from within the county of recruiting; this is not the case with KWS cadets. The chosen candidates will be sent to a six-month mandatory paramilitary training program before being deployed.
Individuals who have gone through National Youth Service (NYS) and meet the above requirements are encouraged to submit applications.
