Ruto Makes Changes to KDF Leadership
Significant adjustments have been made to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) command by President William Ruto.Ruto named Major General Charles Muriu Kahariri the Vice Chief of the Defense Forces and elevated him to the rank of Lieutenant General in the changes that were revealed on Friday, March 8. General Francis Ogolla will be replaced by him. Kahariri is replacing Lieutenant General Jonah Maina Mwangi whose term ended.
Additionally, the President named Major General David Kimaiyo Tarus the Commander of the Kenya Army and advanced him to the rank of Lieutenant General. “After 39 years of service, Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Njiru’s mandate has come to an end. Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Tarus takes over for him. Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Tarus was the Deputy Army Commander prior to being appointed Commander of the Kenya Army, according to a portion of the KDF announcement. Major General Jimson Longiro was likewise elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General by the Commander in Chief. Additionally, he was announced as the National Defence University’s next vice chancellor.
Longiro was the Kenya Navy’s Commander before being appointed.As a result, the President also named Brigadier Thomas Njoroge Ng’ang’a the Commander of the Kenya Navy and advanced him to the rank of Major General.
A portion of the statement said, “He was the Base Commander of Kenya Navy Base Manda until he was appointed Commander of Kenya Navy.”
Other Changes
The President also appointed Major General Juma Shee Mwinyikai as Commandant of the National Defence College and promoted him to Lieutenant General.
Likewise, Major General Mohamed Nur Hassan was also posted to the Headquarters of the Kenya Army and appointed Deputy Army Commander.Brigadier Luka Kipkemoi Kutto, on the other hand, was also promoted to Major General and appointed General Officer Commanding Eastern Command.At the Kenya Military Academy, Ruto posted Major General Aphaxard Muthuri Kiugu and appointed him Commandant.
General Officer Commanding Major General John Maison Nkoimo was assigned to Border Security Command.At the Kenya Navy Headquarters, Brigadier Peter Shikuku Chelimo was named Deputy Navy Commander.
