KUCCPS Extends Application Deadline

Due to ongoing issues with the portal, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has extended the application deadline for courses once more. The placement service said that it was extending the application process indefinitely until it was satisfied that all eligible students had submitted their applications in a notice dated Sunday, April 25.

The deadline for applications was originally scheduled for Monday, February 26.”The application deadline, which was set for February 26, 2024, has been extended until KUCCPS ascertains that all targeted students have applied,” the announcement reads in part.

“During the ongoing application process, every student is a first-time applicant since KUCCPS discontinued applications at the school level.”The service further asked the students to ensure that they avoid double payments indicating that verification process takes longer since the government moved all its paybill services to a single number.

“Since payments for Government services have been migrated to the eCitizen platform, the process of payment validation for the KUCCPS application is longer than before. Applicants are advised to avoid making double payments,” added the statement.

“The processing of applications for placement will start once KUCCPS is sure all applicants have submitted their course choices based on the targeted number of students. Therefore, no one will be disadvantaged on the basis of the day or time they made their applications.”

Further information from KUCCPS revealed that students who did not apply or who were unable to acquire their chosen courses will have two chances to reapply following the initial placement exercise. After failing to improve its system for students, the service has now announced an extension twice.

At the time, KUCCPS CEO Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome noted in a statement that all students would be placed in institutions of higher learning and extended the duration to February 26.

“I take this opportunity to assure all those seeking training opportunities through the KUCCPS portal that no one will be left behind,” he stated.

Parents and children claimed that the payment processing delay had a significant negative impact on the application process. After payment was made, the website displayed an error message that said, “Error: Please wait for the payment to reflect to complete the application,” temporarily stopping the process, as one user reported.

The user said, “But if the system does not improve, this extension will be useless. Imagine trying to apply one application for the last few days without success.”
