University shines in Africa’s digital skills challenge
Zetech University placed second in a continental competition for digital skills innovation, earning a cash reward of Sh1.46 million.This year’s competition was the third to be held, and entries were received from 26 higher education institutions throughout the continent.
Zetech showed its commitment to developing technology and enabling young inventors by being one of the 11 finalists representing the African area.
The institution displayed initiatives that were submitted during the competition, including as Paul Waweru’s Ecomobilus and electric bike inventions, Samuel Oduor’s Real Oil project, and a trio of students’ smart farm project.
Prof. Njenga Munene, the vice chancellor, said, “This recognition further underscores the university’s dedication to advancing technology and fostering inclusive digital solutions that resonate globally.”BlueCrest College Sierra Leone took third place, and Veritas University of Abuja won the title.
The VC said Zetech’s achievement highlights its commitment to advancing technology and fostering inclusive digital solutions.The judge’s bench that presided the competition commended innovations by Zetech as collaborative.
Huawei made a significant donation of training equipment to improve skill development, while other industry participants including Oracle, Cisco, and Microsoft contributed priceless resources and experience that made it easier to share information and gain access to industry trends.
In addition, the center featured an extensive array of initiatives designed to provide young innovators a competitive edge, including competitions, hackathons, mentorships, and training.
