NYS announces nationwide recruitment of volunteers
The volunteer recruiting drive has been announced by the Kenya National Youth Service.Males and ladies nationwide can volunteer, according to a statement released by NYS on Tuesday.The volunteer program will begin on February 5 and run through February 9, 2024.
NYS said some of the requirements are that the volunteer should be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective sub-county of recruitment and they should be aged 18 to 24 years.They should have a mean Grade of D plain and above in KCSE and they should also produce an Original National Identity Card and academic Certificates (avail of one set of photocopies of the same at the recruitment centre).
Additional requirements include obtaining a certificate of good conduct, being prepared for medical examinations both during and after the recruitment process, being ready for demanding physical training, and being ready to volunteer anywhere in Kenya.
According to NYS, those who are selected for the NYS paramilitary course will report to NYS College, Gilgil, and NYSTTI Naivasha at the times and dates listed in the summoning letters they would each receive.According to NYS, orphans who fulfill the aforementioned qualifying standards will be granted preferential consideration, provided that they can provide adequate documentation of their circumstances, such as burial permits or certificates of parents’ deaths.
In their sub-counties and centers, people with disabilities are also urged to participate in the recruiting process, given that they are physically capable of withstanding the demanding training. “Any kind of corruption is not tolerated by NYS. It is illegal to canvass and provide money or other benefits in exchange for admission; this might result in instant disqualification and/or legal action. Such incidents ought to be reported right away to the Director-General at 020-2400129,” the notification stated.
