TSC To Deploy P1 Teachers To JSS After Lowering Requirements
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has initiated a comprehensive assessment aimed at determining the number of elementary school teachers who now hold Bachelor’s and Diploma degrees.
This assessment, which is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Mugwuku Nthamburi, Director of Teacher Professional Management, attempts to gather thorough data that is broken down by county and highlights various certification levels.
The assessment is described in Memo TSC/DTPM/CDS/40/VOL.II/115, which was sent out on July 4, 2024. It requests data from county and regional directors by July 11, 2024. The data will be categorized into several groups according to academic qualifications, including grade standards for subjects taught at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) level.
The Directorate of Teacher Professional Management is in charge of the assessment, which attempts to compile comprehensive information broken down by county and particular requirements.
Directors are asked to submit information divided into six sections according to qualifications:
i) Owners of Bachelor’s and Diploma degrees who have earned at least a C+ in each of the two teaching courses and a minimum mean grade of C+ in the KCSE (or equivalent).
ii) Bachelor’s and diploma holders with a minimum mean KCSE grade of C+ (or equivalent) and at least a C plain in each of the two teaching courses.
iii). Individuals with a minimum mean KCSE grade of C plain (or equivalent), a bachelor’s degree or diploma, and at least a C+ in each of the two teaching subjects.
iv) Those with a bachelor’s degree or diploma who have completed the two teaching topics with at least a C plain (or a similar mean grade in the KCSE).
v) Those who have completed two teaching subjects, graduated, or hold a diploma and bachelor’s degree with a minimum mean grade of C- (minus) or lower (grades in teaching subjects not stated).
vi) Any other lists that may have been made. In order to ensure that elementary school instructors have the necessary credentials, Dr. Nthamburi emphasized the importance of this examination in raising educational standards across the country.
