UDA Senator Recommends Scrapping CDF

Senator Tabitha Mutinda, a nominee of the United Democratic Alliance, has suggested that the Constituency Development Fund (also known as CDF) be eliminated by parliament.

Regardless of their party identity, the senator pleaded with all of the MPs to submit the amendment that would eliminate the kitty and reallocate the money.

The Senator claimed that the money from the kitty would be transferred to pay down the national debt, which would end the nation’s financial dilemma.

“Every member of parliament must eliminate CDF; they must enter the legislature with the intention of doing so. The National Debt should subsequently be paid off with the money,” she said.

Mutinda further argued that the protests which are being largely fuellled by the Gen-Z would stop if such stringent measures were adopted.

According to the Senator, another convincing action that would get the Kenyan Youth to calm down would be a cabinet reshuffle.

However, she proposed that the President be allowed enough time to make the changes in his cabinet.

This comes after there was a commotion on several platforms as Kenyans bemoaned the ineptitude of some Cabinet members.

Additionally, she stated that Gen-Z protestors needed to avoid the infiltration of criminal elements in the groups.

Mutinda’s sentiments come at a time when leaders from different quarters have expressed differing opinions on the matter of the protests.

ODM MP Daniel Manduku stated last week that he would be prepared to step down from the parliament, citing a lack of trust among the populace in their leaders.

In addition, the lawmaker advocated for new elections and the dissolution of the parliament.
