President Ruto May Be Jailed In Future – Omtatah

President William Ruto has been warned by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah to exercise caution in how he manages the nation lest he end up in legal hot water when his time is up.

Speaking on Wednesday night’s episode of “The Big Conversation” on Citizen TV, Omtatah cautioned the President against trying to enact laws that go beyond the Constitution.

The member believes that the Head of State could wind up in prison after he leaves office due to his continued disregard for the nation’s founding documents when carrying out official business.

He continued by advising President Ruto to take into account the quantity of former leaders imprisoned in South Korea, where he is currently on an official visit, as a result of their alleged “rogue” behavior while in government.

This nation has a Constitution, and it has provisions for punishing these individuals (the government). Omtatah stated, “There will come a moment when we will lock them up for what they are doing now.

“President Ruto should question himself how many South Korean presidents have served time in prison while he is in the country. He must acknowledge that while he admires South Korea, there is a side where rogue presidents are imprisoned and dealt with harshly. Does President Ruto intend to serve a jail sentence after leaving office? That is the query he ought to pose to himself. There is no way out for him—he must uphold the Constitution.

The senator continued by calling the current discussion over the Finance Bill, 2024, a government diversion from the real issue—that is, the alleged plunder concealed in the budget.

Omtatah asserted that Kenyans should disregard the Finance Bill for the time being and focus instead on what he called the “budget corruption” that will cost the nation close to Ksh. 100 billion.
