How to Register for Inua Jamii and Get Ksh 2K Monthly From Gov’t

On Tuesday, Florence Bore, cabinet secretary for labor and social protection, stated that Kenyans who meet the eligibility requirements would be allowed to begin applying for Inua Jamii grants on May 21.

The national government will begin paying successful applicants Ksh2,000 per month in June 2024.

In addition to the current 207,000 recipients, the registration push aims to register 500,000 more homes.

The CS announced that “household registration is starting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22, for Persons with Severe Disabilities Cash Transfer (PWSD-CT) and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC).”

“Similarly, account opening for older persons will also start on the same day.”

How to Apply

If you are a senior citizen aged 70 or  PWSD, you can enroll by dialing *222#.

You can then access social protection services provided by eCitizen with the USSD code, such as housing, tax payment, Inua Jamii, flood relief from the Kenyan government, and more.

You will be asked to choose your favorite language between English and Kiswahili after choosing Inua Jamii.

To sign up for the Inua Jamii program, select the language you are comfortable with and then press 1.

After hitting one, the service will say, “Your name and ID will be checked against the Government of Kenya records.”

You will next need to confirm your cellphone pin if you agree to the terms and conditions indicated above.

Kenyans applying are cautioned, “Please note that the Directorate of Social Assistance has full rights to approve or reject your request for access.”
