2 Secondary School Students Die In Tragic Accident
Kanjuku village in Gatundu North, Kiambu county, is in a state of sadness following the deaths of two students in a horrific motorcycle accident last evening.
The two adolescents met a horrible fate when they were involved in an accident that involved a motorbike and a vehicle on the Mang’u-Flyover route in Kiambu.
At Kanjuku Secondary School, Francis was a Form Four student, while Jane, his cousin, was a Form Three student. The two passed away just hours before classes were scheduled to resume on Monday, the thirteenth.
According to the family, the two were heading back home after visiting Kariminu (ii) dam when a motorbike they had boarded was hit from behind by another motorbike.
According to police, the impact caused them to roll over the tarmac before slamming into a car.
The incident happened at night in the Mubau wa Kanyoni. The three young people were hurt, and it is reported that the rider who hit them vanished into the darkness.
Another Form Four pupil, Brian Mburu, was hurt while riding the unfortunate motorcycle.
After the tragedy, Brian claimed, “I must have fainted. When I came to, I saw my two cousins lying on the tarmac, bleeding unconscious.” Brian also mentioned that he contacted his grandfather right once to request assistance.
“Jane looked very bad. Muiruri on the other hand was calling out God’s name,” added Brian.
The incident has left the family feeling distraught after losing two young people who had a bright future ahead.
According to the family – the two injured youngsters were rushed to Mubau health Centre in Kiambu – but there was no one to attend to them.
“Upon arriving at the Igegania Level Four hospital, the security guard refused to open the gate for us, and so we rushed to Thika Level Five, but it was already too late,” said the brother Joe Mwaura.
“These young people would probably have been saved if the two facilities we rushed them to had been operational,” said Mwaura.
In order to prevent further tragedies, the locals also want speed bumps and appropriate signage installed on the route.
Right now, the two bodies are at the General Kago morgue.
The car was brought to the police station along with the motorcycle.
