KDF Chief General Francis Ogolla Involved In Chopper Crash

On Thursday afternoon, a military helicopter carrying Francis Ogolla, the Chief of Defense Forces, crashed near the Kaben-Cheptulel border between Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties. When the helicopter went down, nine people were reportedly on board.

Five people have been confirmed dead while three others have been left injured after a chopper crashed and caught fire in the Cheptulel area in West Pokot.

The team had left a meeting that had been convened to discuss the security situation in the West Pokot region where several top leaders were present.

According to the pictures, there appears to be a fire near the engine area of the helicopter that crashed in the Sintar region.

Since then, locals have been prohibited from visiting the crash site while the KDF and other pertinent authorities carry out their investigation.

President William Ruto’s insistence on finding a long-term, workable solution to the banditry situation that has plagued the volatile region was the rationale behind the aforementioned meeting.

According to on-the-ground witnesses, survivors of the horrifying accident are presently being flown to Nairobi for medical attention.

Senior military officials are reportedly in Nairobi at State House right now to formally make a statement regarding the still-developing news.

People have been cautioned against disseminating false information about the incident because of the significance of the officials, who are reportedly high ranking KDF members.
