In order to accommodate students enrolling in Grade Nine starting the following year, the government plans to build 15,000 classrooms, according to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
Speaking at Kangaru Girls during the 62nd National Drama and Film Festival, the CS disclosed that 20,000 junior secondary school teachers will be hired by the ministry.
Machogu noted that his ministry is working with other sectors to expand Kenya’s creative arts industry internationally and praised Kenya’s Drama and Film Festivals for raising standards over time.
“Our combined efforts aim to enhance the current reality and enable these talented young people to pursue opportunities on an international scale,” he stated.
Machogu hinted that they are enlisting neighbors in East Africa to launch drama festivals in their own nations with the goal of eventually expanding them into regional events.
“The only nation we have been in competition with is Uganda; we have invited Tanzania, Rwanda, and other nations to participate and turn it into a regional event,” Machogu continued.
According to him, the content will be digitalized so that learners can start making money from it in addition to using it as a learning resource.
The Head of KRA tax education, Jacinta Mulwa, noted that early tax knowledge acquisition will be facilitated by the collaboration with Drama and Film Festivals.
According to Charles Ong’ondo, Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, the festivals this year have raised over 10,000 Euros (Sh1.4 million).
