TSC Third Batch Of P1 Teachers To Get Deployment Letters
The third group of qualified PTE (P1 teachers) would begin receiving deployment letters to teach in junior schools in May 2024, according to plans released by the teachers Service Commission (TSC) the following month.
TSC stated that 600 teachers will be assigned to classrooms right away following a thorough review of their paperwork by the Sub-County Directors.
Nonetheless, the Commission will carefully review the paperwork at the main office to make sure that only qualified teachers have been assigned with legitimate paperwork.
January 2024 TSC voiced worry earlier this year about junior secondary schools that are facing a serious teacher shortage.
Chief Executive Officer of TSC, Dr. Nancy Macharia, acknowledged the gap and stated that, in comparison to the 56,928 teachers already employed, schools need roughly 99,045 teachers.
The commission announced 6,000 deployment slots for primary school teachers with a secondary choice degree as one of the steps to solve the shortage.
The deadline for these teachers to apply online was March 18, 2024.
According to TSC, early in the upcoming term, successful teachers will begin receiving posting letters to work in the junior secondary school division.
Teachers who meet the requirements have until March 18, 2024, to apply for the deployment, according to the Commission.
Consequently, deployment letters will be sent to teachers at primary schools who applied to be deployed to JSS and who meet the requirements to teach in secondary schools.
Sub County Directors and Primary Headteachers who release and receive deployed teachers must take immediate action after the teacher receives their deployment letter in order to expedite the payment of their salaries.
It is anticipated of the County Directors to start publishing to the Sub-County the Entry or Exit Reports Module and publishing.
The P1 teachers’ letters to JSS will then be posted by the TSC Sub-County Director.
According to TSC, the entry and exit procedures for deployed teachers must be completed online as the Commission no longer accepts or processes casualties in hard copy.
The Head of Institution is expected to withdraw the teacher from primary school and submit the new Entry Report for the JSS in cases where the teacher is kept at the same station.
