KUCCPS Issues 24-Hour Notice to KCSE Students

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students have until Wednesday, April 3, 24 hours to apply for higher education courses, according to a letter sent by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). This mostly addressed KCSE students in 2023 who are looking to apply for slots in various institutions of higher learning.

The application portal will close on Thursday, KUCCPS announced, depriving them of the opportunity to pursue higher education. It was also declared that students who took the KCSE exam between 2000 and 2022 will have partial accessibility through the KUCCPS portal.

These students will be qualified to apply for artisanal courses, degrees, and certificates, according to KUCCPS.

The application portal expires on April 4, 2024, which is tomorrow. Apply for degree, diploma, or certificate programs as well as artisan courses by visiting students.kuccps.net, according to KUCCPS.

Notably, only students who received a C+ or higher on their 2023 KCSE examinations are eligible to enroll in the degree programs. A C (plain) or C- (minus) allows a student to enroll in some diploma courses.

For students who received a D (simple) or D- (minus), certificate programs are available in colleges, polytechnics, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The remaining students from various TVET institutions may apply through KUCCPS artisanal courses.

Except for 2023, students who received a C+ or higher in any other year are still eligible for degree programs, but they must apply directly to the university of their choosing.

Although they won’t be qualified for government subsidies under this program, students can still apply for loans from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
