TSC Salary for Newly Hired Graduate Teachers
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) provides a minimum monthly basic remuneration of Sh34,955 to recently hired graduate teachers employed in Kenya.
In addition to their base pay, they receive monthly allowances. A recent graduate receives Sh5,000 per month as a commuter payment for C2 teachers.
They also receive a leave allowance, valued at Sh6,000, which is paid only once a year. The monthly house allowance that these teachers receive varies based on their level. It might range from Sh16,500 to Sh7,000.
According to the teachers Service Commission’s guidelines, all newly hired teachers must serve a minimum of six (6) months on probation.
In certain situations, such as when the teacher’s performance is poor, the period of probation for recently hired teachers may be prolonged. Newly hired teachers receive an automatic promotion to job group L, which is currently designated as C3, after three years of service.
Once a teacher completes a form and submits it to the commission, TSC implements this promotion. Teachers’ salaries are subject to mandatory deductions before they are deposited into their accounts. This is how they acquire their net pay into their accounts. A portion of the major monthly deductions are either third-party loans, such as savings accounts and union dues, or they are mandated by law (HELB, PAYE, NHIF, etc.).
Conversely, the recently hired TSC graduates who hold a Diploma in Education get an entry-level wage of Sh27,195 per month. These teachers are also eligible for the other monthly benefits mentioned above.
Be aware that primary school teachers begin their careers at Grade B5, which was formerly referred to as Job Group G.Together with other benefits, these teachers receive a basic pay of Sh21,756 each month.
