Every TSC Teacher To Pay Sh 2500 for ICT Curriculum Training
The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has scheduled a training session for teachers, secretariat staff, and eighth-graders in the near future. A TSC directive from March 26, 2024 states that the government has developed an ICT short course curriculum that can be self-sponsored and will cost you only Sh. 2,500.
The ICT curriculum was created by the ICT Authority and the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy in order to implement the “Kenya National Digital Master Plan 2022 to 2032.”
One of the pillars of the Master Plan is to impart and enhance the Digital skills of citizens. Under this initiative, it is envisioned that over 20 million citizens will be equipped with basic digital skills to enhance their capacity to effectively access and utilize Government e-services.
To this end, the Government with the support of stakeholders has developed an ICT curriculum of short courses focusing on Foundation, Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced digital skills including, public sector focused digital skills.
In Phase 1 of the programme, the ICT Authority projects to train about 5 million citizens using a consortium of ICT training organizations drawn from both the public and private sectors, NGOs, and various accredited training institutions.
The Commission asked eighth-grade students, teachers, and secretarial staff to register for the training.Basic digital skills training will be self-sponsored and cost Ksh. 2,500/ = (two thousand five hundred shillings only) each participant. After completion and evaluation by the government, a certificate will be given out.
In a circular, TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia stated, “All teachers, Secretariat Staff, and Grade 8 students are encouraged to register for the program using the registration link: https://www.smartacademy.go.ke.”
