KNEC Issues Warning Over 2024 KCSE Registration
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has alerted parents to the risk that mistakes made during the registration procedure could prevent their children from taking the 2024 KCSE exams. KNEC encouraged parents to make sure their children are registered for the exam before the deadline in a message dated Friday, March 22.
For this reason, it was advised that parents and guardians check on their children’s registration status by going to the respective school. They were instructed to verify the information gathered throughout the exercise at the same time. It is mandatory for parents and schools to observe the photos taken during the registration process.
Furthermore, parents were informed that there would be no parental extensions and that they should follow the deadlines set by the testing board. It has been decided that the registration deadline is Friday, March 29.
Please note that the portal for registration of this year’s candidates closes on March 29, one week from now, and there will be no extension of the deadline and requests for late registration will not be honoured.
“There will be no room for change of photographs for KCSE candidates after the closure of the registration period. Please visit your child’s school and ensure he/she is registered and the details are captured accurately. Do not let your child miss the exam!” read the notice in part.
The student’s index numbers and certain facts from their birth certificate are among the prerequisites for the registration procedure. However, pictures are typically taken and included with the KCSE certificates that are printed. This is to make sure that people don’t apply for jobs or enroll in classes using the certificates of others.
Following the announcement of the 2023 KCSE results, KNEC launched the registration process on January 29. Students can still register for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) in the meantime.
