A man from Silibwet is the target of a manhunt by Bomet police after he killed four people on Friday, March 1, including his two children.
The suspect, who was purportedly carrying a machete, allegedly broke into his house and attacked the four people inside, along with his housekeeper and one of his relative’s kids, in the horrifying incident.
All four of them—his two daughters, ages two and sixteen, his niece, age eight, and a housekeeper, age sixteen—passed away from wounds they received in the assault. The police claim that the man did the horrible deed while his wife was in Silibwet town. The weapon has already been turned in as evidence, but the police are still unsure of where the attacker obtained it.
The Bomet Central sub-county Deputy Police Commander Ali Bashir further explained that the suspect slashed his daughter on the cheek first, before proceeding to kill the niece in a similar manner. The father then cut the 16-year-old house help multiple times. His son managed to escape, however, he went after him slashing him several times.
Later, the deceased’s bodies were taken to the mortuary at Tenwek Hospital so that an autopsy could be performed. The individual ran from the scene before the police could arrest him, so the deputy police commander for the area assembled a team to look for him.
In a related event that occurred on February 24, in the Milenya neighborhood of Muhoroni Kisumu County, a man is believed to have slain four members of his family. Police sources state that the man fatally stabbed both his five-month pregnant wife and his son before fleeing.
After killing his uncle and his wife on the spot a short distance from the crime site through a sugarcane shamba, the man went to his uncle’s house a few meters away. The deceased’s bodies were taken to the Ahero sub-county morgue in anticipation of an autopsy and more inquiries.
