Job Openings for Kenyans in Abroad

Kenyans can still look for work locally or overseas using the National Employment Authority Integrated Management System (NEAMIS), an active job portal maintained by the Ministry of Labor. Only 14 opportunities were listed for Kenyans looking to work locally, despite the fact that there were thousands of jobs available overseas.

This happened in the midst of thousands of other job listings in Gulf countries and  76,600 job positions published specifically for Saudi Arabia. In an effort to combat unemployment, the administration of President William Ruto  has been actively investigating the exportation of human capital to the West and  the Middle East.

In NEAMIS, other countries that have high openings for Kenya include Lithuania (1,375), Qatar (1,303) and Turkey (1,025). Despite former Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua establishing a foundation for Kenyans to have access to trade and jobs in Canada, only 347 positions were listed.

The results of Polish President Andrzej Duda’s February 12 visit to Kenya are already apparent, as 520 job positions are now available for Kenyans who would like to work in Poland. The Czech Republic (280), Germany (170), Hungary (165), Slovakia (150), United Arab Emirates (100), Great Britain (50), and Serbia (50) are among the other foreign nations that employ Kenyans.

The majority of the positions posted were non-skilled, despite President William Ruto’s administration promising Kenyans traveling abroad skilled and semi-skilled jobs. The majority of occupations in Saudi Arabia are held by drivers, maids, cleaners, and security personnel.

Numerous unskilled occupations exist in Germany, such as that of a kitchen  attendant, receptionist, and stateroom attendant. In order to guarantee that  Kenyans who migrate overseas earn between Ksh100,000 and Ksh150,000,  President Ruto has pledged that Kenya will sign bilateral labor agreements with  other nations. Thousands of young Kenyans are employed by the government under the affordable  housing initiative, despite the fact that there are few locally available jobs in NEAMIS.
