The Ministry of Education has denied rumors that it is developing a new placement test for elementary schools.The Ministry denied rumors that it was instructed to create the Kenya Primary Placement Test, which is anticipated to reveal a new standard for student placement, through its official channels.
November of this year was the planned launch date for the new exam, according to claims that have since been discredited.The Ministry responded by saying that nothing has changed and that things will continue as they are.
The fake circular also claimed that the State was working towards shifting Grade 9 under the competency-based curriculum to secondary school.The change was expected to affect Junior Secondary School teachers who are anchored in primary schools by moving them to high schools to handle grades 9, 10, 11, and 12.
“Survey to be considered in content areas for secondary school and colleges category as matter of urgency to avoid further curriculum distortion,” added the fake circular.”Consider an existing cluster of schools, national, extra county, and county schools to ease the transition.”
This occurs concurrently with the Ministry of Education finishing up the CBC students’ transfer to Junior Secondary School.The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) results for 2023 were made public by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), which provided information for the transition.
Parents and principals of the schools can view the results by accessing them on the KNEC site.KNEC sent out a memo to all principals and head teachers on Thursday, advising them to make sure all of their students have registered for the KPSEA exams this year.The examination body set the registration deadline of March 29, 2024.
