A machete-wielding gang invaded a secondary school in Thika on Wednesday night, leaving one security guard dead and another seriously injured.After ambushing the guards and smashing through every door in the administration of Karibaribi Secondary School, the six thugs were able to enter the section and take 16 laptops.

By the time this report was published, one of the guards had already passed away from his wounds while traveling to the hospital, and the other was still receiving treatment.The widow of the guard who died from injuries expressed her sorrow and annoyance and said her husband was the family’s primary provider because he had two jobs at two different schools.

She called on the authorities to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.Thika West Sub-county Police Commander Lawrence Muchangi while confirming the incident, stated that they had not narrowed down to a suspect yet. He however stated that the authority was working to rid the area of criminal activity.

Chairperson of the Board of Management Hosea Irungu bemoaned, “It is sinister how the thugs who seemed not to be in a hurry executed their mission without police acting.”It was only recently that an off-duty policeman in a nearby estate shot and killed two individuals who were thought to be thugs trying to break into his home.
