Gov’t JSS Textbooks found abandoned on Road
Police in Keiyo South led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are probing circumstances surrounding the abandonment of 500 boxes of government textbooks for Junior Secondary School.
The National authorities Service reports that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the books’ abandonment has been initiated by authorities.
According to the NPS, on January 20, 2024, around 500 boxes of government textbooks for junior secondary school students from Nyamira North and Nyamira South were discovered abandoned near Kaptagat Kaptarakwa marum Road inside Kaptagat Forest.
It has been gathered that preliminary investigation indicates that the motor vehicle carrying the books might have been hijacked, where the perpetrators seized control of the vehicle transporting the textbooks, offloaded the books and left with the motor vehicle.
Source questions how hijackers could leave books worth millions more than a track while urging the NPS to dig deeper into the act.
Subsequently, the hijackers unloaded the educational materials along the roadside and made off with the vehicle.
Authorities are pursuing leads to uncover the motives behind this unusual incident, raising concerns about the safety and security of educational resources in the region.
The matter remains under investigation.
