Rowdy Youth Temporarily Disrupt Raila’s Rally
The leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party was forced to briefly suspend his remarks on Monday when an unruly gathering disturbed the opposition leader’s event in Busia County. It was necessary for Raila, who was speaking to the crowd, to request that they quiet down. Later on, long in advance of the gathering, he would charge unidentified individuals with plotting to cause mayhem.
Despite this, the former prime minister refused to back down, declaring that ODM was ready for whatever that came its way.”Young men don’t need to run; sit down. This is politics; we’re used to this mess,” said Raila.
A few individuals on the podium were spotted raising their seats during the altercation, which led to chaos. Shouts came from those on the ground, although it was difficult to understand what the chants meant. Raila’s voice became inaudible as their shouts became louder.
Following the chaos, leaders on the podium attempted to calm the crowd down for the rally to continue.”As ODM, we are peaceful, we do not insult others or engage in violence. Whoever is planning this distraction is wrong, and we cannot be distracted. Our strength comes from the people,” Raila remarked.
During the rally, Raila reiterated that ODM has the people’s interest at heart, unlike the Kenya Kwanza government.Raila also called upon the youth to join ODM to further strengthen the party. He added that ODM was readying to take over the government in 2027.
During the campaigns, he accused President William Ruto of lying to Kenyans. He mocked Ruto’s initiatives, such as the Housing Fund and the Hustler Fund, and said that the current government was ineffective.According to the former prime minister, Ruto is to blame for the high cost of life that most Kenyans must bear.
“Food or a house is what you want? Are you interested in the Saudi Arabian jobs he is offering? We, as Azimio, would provide for every Kenyan once we assume power since this government has failed to do its job,” he said.
