In 2024, a substantial educational initiative is expected to benefit students in Kenya who obtained grades of D+ and D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). These students will now be able to enroll in the certificate programs of their choosing. The courses are available at numerous colleges and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions around the nation. They have been approved by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

The extensive list of KCSE students’ 2023 KUCCPS-approved courses, covering a wide range of subjects to suit different interests and professional goals. These disciplines include library and information science, building and construction, hairdressing and beauty therapy, engineering technology, information technology, business and associated studies, and clothing, fashion, and textiles.

Students in Kenyan colleges and TVET schools have a choice of 75 recognized courses under the category of Business and Related Courses. Entrepreneurship, accounting, finance and banking, sales and marketing, secretarial studies, and supply chain management are among the most popular courses.

The list also features courses like Business Administration, Credit Management, Human Resources Management, Cooperative Management, and Project Management. Institutions such as Belgut, Bushiangala, Riragia, Aldai, Bunyala, Gatundu South, and Gitwebe TVET institutions are among those offering these courses.

For those interested in Building and Construction, various certificate courses are available, including Construction Technology, Construction Foreperson, Concrete Construction, Land Survey, and Road Construction. Noteworthy institutions like Eldoret Polytechnic and training institutes such as Karen, Katine, Konoin, and Ol’lessos offer these courses.

This initiative opens up valuable opportunities for students who may have faced challenges in achieving higher grades, providing them with accessible educational pathways aligned with their interests. It demonstrates a commitment to equipping individuals with practical skills, fostering a skilled workforce that contributes to diverse sectors of the economy.
