Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, is expected to reveal the results of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams in January 2024. On December 13, 2023, the painstaking marking procedure—which was carried out at illustrious locations including Kiambu High School and Starehe Girls Centre—was effectively finished.
Even though the marking procedure is now complete, there are still worries about possible delays in the results’ dissemination. Because of this, the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has appealed to CS Machogu, pleading with him to grant examiners enough time for a comprehensive review.
The official release date for the results is set for January 2, 2024, and they will be accessible through the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) portal. However, it is important to note that due to technical issues encountered during the transmission of KCPE results, the traditional Short Messaging Service (SMS) will not be available for result checking.
To access the results, parents and applicants are required to visit the KEMIS website and input the KCSE names and index numbers.
The 903,260 pupils that took part in the KCSE exams went through a rigorous procedure that started in January 2023 with projects. Oral, practical, and theoretical exams were then held at prearranged testing locations from October 23 to November 24, 2023.
Aggrey Namisi, National Vice Chairperson of KNUT, expressed worries about the KCPE results’ hurried release and the ensuing errors, which led to the decision to release the results on January 2, 2024. Prior to the formal release of the KCSE results, KNUT has stressed how crucial it is that CS Machogu ensure a comprehensive analysis, stressing the need for reliable and accurate data.
A list of the top 100 schools nationwide in terms of mean scores from the KCSE 2022 results is also included in the article. Nyambaria High School emerged victorious, with a remarkable mean score of 10.89.
In conclusion, the much-awaited KCSE 2023 results are expected to be made public via the KEMIS portal on January 2, 2024, giving parents and students a wealth of information about their academic performance.
