Omtatah Heads to File Death Threat Claims Against Ruto
On Tuesday morning, authorities in the Nyanchwa police station in Kisii County denied Busia Senator Okiya request to file a complaint alleging that President William Ruto had threatened to kill him.
After attempting to make a second case at the Mosocho Police Station in Kitutu Chache South, Omtatah was dismissed from the Nyanchwa Police.
Omtatah claimed that on Saturday, December 16, at a religious event in Cardinal High School, Mosocho, where he was holding a fundraiser, Ruto threatened to kill him and those who were opposing his policies.
The senator contended that he felt threatened because he was going to challenge the Housing Levy in court.
“He began denouncing those who had contested the Finance Act’s decision, specifically with regard to the Housing Levy, as he was speaking.
Omtatah remarked, “He claimed he would use the sword he was given in Kasarani to deal with them.
“He declared that the sword is for dealing with those crooks who are against his regime, not for chopping vegetables.
I have never done anything to suggest that I am a criminal, and I am not one.” Omtatah has promised that he will ensure that his statement is recorded and that an investigation be started into President Ruto’s provocative statement, even if he encountered challenges at the police station.
“I spoke with an arrogant OCPD officer who dismissed my statement, claiming to know the law. Omtatah said, “I’ll abide by the law and make sure that this declaration is documented.
“Ruto won’t hold office indefinitely, even if I am unable to bring him before the courts right now. It will get to the point where we challenge him and he leaves. We want that issue looked into.”
Ruto proposed utilizing the ceremonial sword that Uhuru Kenyatta gave him during his official swearing-in ceremony on Saturday to deal with the Housing Levy opponents in court.
“I was handed a sword, as you know. Is it, do you suppose, for chopping vegetables? It’s for handling all of these shady characters here. Kenya will advance after I thoroughly uproot them,” Ruto declared.
Since then, several Kenyans have responded to his statement, with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) calling it dangerous.
“As a community, we want to denounce the statements made by the Head of State that he was given a sword at his inauguration and that he will use it against those he views as adversaries of the Republic of Kenya because they have used their legal right to challenge decisions made by the government, including those who have challenged the Housing Levy in court,” said Eric Theuri, president of LSK.
