Scholarships for 2023 KCPE applicants

The Elimu Bora Program Scholarships for  2023 KCPE Learners are announced by the  Ministry of Education.

With the launch of the Elimu Bora Program, the Ministry of Education is providing  scholarships to students who took the 2023 KCPE test and received scores higher  than 280.

The initiative, which is run by The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JMF) and Equity  Group Foundation, intends to assist underprivileged and disadvantaged students  in each of the 47 counties.

1. Academic Achievement

– Candidates scoring 280 marks and above are eligible.

– Affirmative action for candidates with special needs (below 280 marks) and vulnerable groups with 250 marks and above.

2. Refugee Learners

– Girls and boys from camp-based schools with 240 and 250 marks respectively are eligible.

3. School Criteria

– Limited to candidates who sat the 2023 KCPE examinations in public primary schools and specific refugee learners.

4. Additional Eligibility Criteria

– Learners from poor and vulnerable backgrounds, including orphans.

– Those from urban informal settlements.

– Learners with parents/guardians living with disabilities affecting financial obligations.

– Families affected by HIV/AIDS and chronic illnesses.

– Families facing extreme poverty hindering education.

– Students who have experienced abuse or neglect and need educational help. Learners with special needs and disabilities. Procedure for Application: 1. Form Gathering – Forms are available for download from the Ministry of Education website

3. Submission Deadline

– Duly completed forms with supporting documents should be submitted online or to the nearest Sub-County Education office by 5.00 pm on December 28, 2023.

4. Refugee Learners Submission

– Forms can be submitted to the office of the Camp Manager in Kakuma and Dadaab, Equity Bank Branch or Equity Bank Agents.

Interviews and Selection:

– Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews conducted by Community Selection Advisory Committees (CSACs), accompanied by parents/guardians.

Scholarship Coverage:

– The scholarship covers school fees, transportation, school kit, and a stipend (pocket money) for the beneficiaries throughout their four-year education.
