Uhuru’s High Profile Meeting Raise Alarm in Azimio

Inside Azimio circles, there is unease due to former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s high- profile talks with envoys from the US and the UK. They accused Uhuru of meeting those who were said to have backed President William Ruto, under the leadership of Member of Parliament for Homa Bay Town Peter Kaluma.

This followed the former president’s meeting with Neil Wigan, the British High Commissioner to Kenya, on Friday. Uhuru and Meg Whitman, the US ambassador to Kenya, had another important meeting later that day at Uhuru’s Nairobi office.

Kaluma questioned, “Why is (former) President Uhuru Kenyatta meeting people who rigged our 2022 presidential elections?” “Remove US Ambassador Meg Whitman and her Western associates.”

In a news release, Uhuru Kenyatta mentioned that the two leaders had given him a courtesy call. Details of the two encounters were not disclosed by the previous president.Within the East African Community (EAC), High Commissioner Wigan hinted that the main topic of discussion at the summit was regional peace. Wigan wrote, “It is a pleasure to meet with Uhuru Kenyatta, the EAC facilitator, to discuss regional peace and security issues.”

The High Commissioner went on to say that the UK would look into methods to help the EAC mission. Uhuru has maintained that he backs Azimio leader Raila Odinga, despite claims from some Azimio MPs that he is cozying up to Ruto’s administration. I tell folks that I am a member of Azimio. On November 19, Uhuru declared, “I am not a conman.”
