Drama broke out at Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday following the arrest of a well-known actor and his spouse, stars of the Kenyan serial series Maria.When the actor left the courtroom after attending a hearing, agents from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) took him into custody.
At a home in Karen Plains, Nairobi County, the actor was accused of beating his seven-year-old daughter on various days between October 2022 and February 2023.
The actor tried to fight the arrest, but the police managed to restrain him and took him to a police vehicle that was parked outside the courts, where he was placed in handcuffs.The actor was accompanied while wearing a white T-shirt, white canvas, and green pants, covering his face with both hands.The actor and his spouse are reportedly being detained at the Karen police station at the moment.
According to reports, the two will be charged at Kibera Law Courts on November 30, 2023.The two are accused of a multitude of offenses, including abusing children, which is against Section 25 of the Children Act (No. 29 of 2022).This comes after reports that the actor got into a fight with a Nigerian national on February 16, 2023, and was subsequently taken into custody at the Karen Police Station.Following the show, the actor said that the police had improperly detained him at the station and had refused to grant him bail.
In an additional turn of events, the actor claimed that the Nigerian citizen was paying Kenyan police officers to detain him. Additionally, he stated that the Nigerian national had attacked him at home and in front of his wife and kids.
