Raila attacks the Ruto government of failing El Nino flood victims
ODM leader Raila Odinga has stepped up his criticism of President William Ruto’s administration, claiming that it is not doing enough to solve the problems that Kenyans are facing.
He claimed that numerous economic and social issues, such as the flooding that is wreaking havoc on many parts of Kenya, have gone unaddressed by the government and have left many Kenyans on the verge of collapse.
As part of his efforts to undo the gains Ruto’s UDA party has made in the area during the president’s and his supporters’ multiple trips, the ODM leader conducted a tour of Migori County to garner support for his party and oversee the listing of new members.
Next week, Raila will travel to Kisumu and Busia counties as part of his increased attempts to garner support from the local populace in his historic strongholds.
As he persisted in his efforts to fortify ODM, Raila called into question the government’s response to the floods, arguing that not enough had been done to assist the impacted families.
The leader of Azimio instructed the Kenya Kwanza government to cease attributing its failure to the previous Jubilee administration.
“There is starvation currently, and floods are killing other Kenyans. Raila remarked, “These people are sleeping at work.” “The president had declared that El Niño rains would not occur, and now that the rains have arrived, counties are not receiving government support,” Raila continued.
He chastised Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for asserting that the administration had given counties money to lessen the impact of the intense rains. Raila remarked, “The Deputy President is trying to blame the governors and lying about them getting money.”
When the former prime minister visited the Nyatike constituency to conduct an ODM new member registration drive, he urged the young people there to join the party and stick together.
Raila noted that it was premature for individuals to begin campaigning for the next elections while conducting a member registration drive at Macalder in Nyatike. “I suggest that ODM leaders begin their campaigning in 2026.”
Raila disregarded the UDA’s trips to the area. Claims that the ruling party had registered more than 100,000 in Nyanza were also refuted by him. He urged the locals to stay in ODM.
