Education CS Announces Form One Selection Dates
The 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates will begin the Form One selection process next week, according to the Ministry of Education. The Form One placement is set to start on November 27, according to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, who made this announcement at the 2023 KCPE results announcement at Mitihani House in Nairobi. The placement process will begin on Monday, November 27, 2023, and end in two weeks, giving parents and guardians enough time to get their kids ready for Form One in 2024, according to Machogu, who emphasized the significance of a fast process.
Assuring transparency and fairness, Machogu highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging a well-established system for Form One placement, with the aim of achieving a 100 percent transition for the 1,406,557 candidates. “Already the Ministry has developed a fair and transparent system for Form One placement to ensure national, regional, and socio-economic balance is achieved,” he affirmed. The criteria for placement include merit, school choice, and affirmative action.
Encouraging parents to take advantage of the 100 percent transition policy, Machogu expressed confidence in the government’s readiness to implement the policy effectively. In 2018, Kenya adopted the Policy on Universal Access to Basic Education, aiming to ensure that all children enroll in primary school and complete their secondary education, achieving a 100 percent transition rate.
Following the KCPE tests, Machogu announced that candidates who were not able to pass the 2023 KCPE exams would be able to retake them in January through special exams. He said that some 9,354 students were not able to take the exam. These candidates have been offered the chance to retake the exam in January, which will allow them to enroll in Form One.
