Five Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates for 2023 perished while riding a boat in Amazement Park in Eldoret. The park has been closed. The managers of the park sent out a message informing patrons of the recreation center that the opening dates will be announced at a later time, but they did not disclose the reasons for the closure.

“We are closed indefinitely, until further notice. Please be patient with us,” the management wrote in part of the notice. The park also advised the public that the closure might extend throughout the  holiday season.

“Sorry guys it is not our wish that this season we will be temporarily absent from  our usual activities,” part of the notice stated. Online comments from park patrons suggested that the park has been temporarily  closed to allow for maintenance.

Most people believed that the modifications would strengthen the institution and prevent another incident like it from happening in the future.Patrons put pressure on the company to expedite repairs, ensure the space is secure, and open as soon as possible in advance of the holiday season. One of the customers said, “It’s just a matter of time and all shall be well.”Five KCPE candidates from Uasin Gishu County’s Arap Moi Primary School drowned at the facility in late October while on a field excursion.

In a man-made lake, the pupils were rowing a boat when it overturned. Less than two days before the October 30 start date of the national exams, the  pupils passed away. Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, encouraged parents to  make sure their children stay away from dangerous activities during test season  after the event. The parents of the deceased children at the time requested that the appropriate  authorities expedite their investigations to determine whether any negligence  occurred. They also demanded that those found accountable be held accountable.
