Four KCSE candidates under inspection
On Monday night, four applicants to Kisumu Boys Secondary School were taken into custody for reportedly using marijuana.
The four candidates were charged by the police of using a master key to violently enter a room and then gathering in a corner to smoke.
Three of the candidates—three of whom were eighteen and one of whom was seventeen—were detained in the interim at the Kisumu Central Police Station. Before being freed, they made a statement there.
Peter Mulai, the commander of Kisumu Central sub-county police, verified the occurrence and said that the pupils were freed on cash bond following the intervention of parents and teachers.
Mulai stated that previous to the start of the case investigations, the parents and professors had decided to let the pupils take the remaining exams. Following the conclusion of the tests on November 24, the four suspects will be charged in court. The two would face charges of illicit drug possession and breaking into a secured room, according to the police.
Following the exam period, the four applicants will be added to the list of 46 additional students who have not yet been charged. Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, pledged to see to it that a number of teachers and students who are suspected of cheating on exams face charges.
Nine testing center managers were placed on suspension, and the accused teachers were freed on cash bond. Charles Onyari, the principal of Nyambaria High School, was one of the center administrators that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) fired due to irregularities in exams. With a mean score of 10.89, the school secured the top spot on the 2022 KCSE exam.
