KUPPET Is Against Exam Supervisor Rotation
Exam supervisor rotation is unfeasible, according to Justus Kimeu, the Executive Secretary of the KUPPET (Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers) Makueni branch. Kimeu, claiming the policy has put an additional financial strain on teachers, petitioned KNEC (Kenya National Examinations Council) in his Wote office to reevaluate the guidelines.
Kimeu emphasized that although it is crucial to prevent examination malpractice, supervisors felt that the rotation policy’s execution was unjust. Numerous individuals had already committed financially, booking lodging in close proximity to their designated hubs for the full month. Kimeu highlighted the difficulties, loss of time, and monetary damages experienced by the impacted supervisors.
He drew attention to the disregard for supervisors when it comes to transportation, since they are not allowed to get into cars with exam papers. Kimeu recommended that KNEC arrange transportation for supervisors to their new centers if rotation is to be enforced.
Kimeu advised supervisors to report to their present test centers, and if relocation is required, she requested the government to provide transportation. He also urged county directors and field officers to assist in the friendly replacement of supervisors who were unable to complete the rotation. Looking at things more broadly, Kimeu suggested that KNEC look for its own exam administrators going forward in order to lessen the burden on educators who already deal with issues including excessive workloads, job inertia, and psychological stress.
