KNUT Lists Challenges Teachers Face
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Nandi Branch has listed the continuous difficulties faced by educators nationwide. Branch Secretary Stephen Misoi emphasized in a news conference that even with the delocalization program suspended, many teachers continue to encounter obstacles while trying to return to their home counties. Misoi also underlined how important it is that teachers receive less money than other public employees.
One significant issue that Misoi brought up was the delay in pension payments. She asked the government to make sure that plans for these payments start six months before a teacher retires. In addition, he demanded that more instructors be hired, identifying as hardship zones locales such as Terige, Maraba, Chemelil, and the Nandi escarpment. The plea highlights the effects of understaffing in nearby schools, which present a number of difficulties for teachers.
Misoi urged the commission to give the alleged difficulties experienced by instructors requesting transfers their immediate consideration. He emphasized the need for quick intervention to alleviate the problems experienced by teachers, pointing out the misalignment between the teacher-to-learner ratio and the requirement for expanded recruitment.
