Children died in Kajjansi collapsed wall
Yesterday Friday, during the early morning,
intense rain, a wall collapsed on top of three youngsters, crushing them to death.
Daniel Sekatawa was slain in an incident at the Nakigalala village Kajjansi town council in the Wakiso district. Three-year-old Daniel, 18-month-old Grace Senabulya, and two-month-old Hel Mary.
Gorreti Nakyanz, their mother, reported that amid a torrential downpour, the wall unexpectedly collapsed on the kids at around four in the morning. “Our four children and I are inside the house, and their father was dozing off while the pouring rain continued. Our home’s wall collapsed, falling on our kids. Nakyanzi informed authorities, “I raised an alert that drew the attention of our neighbors, but by the time the kids were pulled from the debris, they had already passed already.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the fourth youngster was saved alive by the villagers and taken to the hospital right away. The trio’s bodies have been brought to the morgue at Mulago Hospital for a postmortem examination.
After being alerted, police arrived at the location of the incident. Three of the children instantly passed away, while one was saved. Police took interviews from pertinent witnesses and documented the situation. Following a postmortem, the bodies were brought to the mortuary in Mulago City, according to Onyango.
According to Onyango, the police noticed that the wall collapsed as a result of the house’s subpar construction. Since then, it has been proven that unbaked bricks were used to build the walls and that the person who completed the building was incompetent.
The floods, crumbling walls, and houses have killed almost ten children, and several have drowned while crossing waterways. These incidences have taken place in Kira, Kireka Biira, Namungoona, and Nalukolongo.
