17 CEOs Summoned Over eCitizen Delays
In response to their noncompliance with President William Ruto’s mandate directing all government payments to be made through eCitizen, the government summoned the CEOs of seventeen state entities on Wednesday.
The CEOs will appear before the Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau next week to provide an explanation for why they have not implemented the directive, as per a statement released by the Office of the President.
The CEOs of several significant organizations, including as the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC), the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), the Hustler Fund, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), and the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), are among those who have been called. The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), and Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) are the others.
The CEOs of the Kenya Railways Corporation, Kenya Ferry Services Limited, Kenya National Trading Corporation, Kenya School of Government, Mathari Referral and Teaching Hospital, and the National Aids Control Council have also been called. In her speech in Syokimau, Machakos County, Wanjau mentioned that the summons came after a comply-or-explain letter that was forwarded to the several authorities in August 4.
“These state corporations have been invited to a meeting on Tuesday at 9 am, and the CEO, the board chair, and the PS, who is the accounting officer, are expected to attend, based on the conversations that have occurred,” Wanjau said.
The CEOs were expected to show that they were on track to channel all payments into the 222222 shared PayBill that President William Ruto had initiated, according to the Secretary to the Cabinet.
