A new rule aimed at preventing early exposure of the second paper during the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, which began today, has been announced by Dr. David Njengere, CEO of the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).

Exam papers would be collected twice, according to Dr. Njengere, from the container and the examination centers. According to the new guideline, those papers must be returned to the container by the center management following the first KCSE session, which begins at 8:00 am. The second session paper will thereafter be collected at 12:30 pm and distributed at 2:00 pm.

In an effort to maintain examination integrity, Dr. Njengere stressed that only the center manager is allowed to have a mobile phone in the examination center. All other phones must be stored in the center manager’s office. Adhering to this rule is expected to address the challenge of the early release of the second session paper effectively.

Dr. Njengere also advised officials not to put their lives in danger while delivering  exam papers in the pouring rain. He gave them advice on how to be safe during the exam period by using a toll-free hotline in case of emergency.
