KCPE Candidate Chopped Off Classmate’s Finger
Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate who slashed a fellow student’s hand over a piece of biscuit sparked a manhunt by Rongo, Migori County police on Thursday. The two Kasodo Primary School students got into a fight, and one of them pulled out a knife to cut his classmate’s finger before running away.
The sad episode occurred as a result of a disagreement between the two over a cookie, with both arguing about who should get it. Some have asserted that the candidate severed the entire hand, while others have just stated that the student severed a finger.
Hours after finishing their KCPE exams, the two got into a fight. Teachers and other students were stunned by the incident. The nation has seen an increase in the number of juvenile victims of violent crimes.
After being taken to the hospital, the student was treated. The culprit had left the site and was now in hiding when the police officers got there, so they started a manhunt. Since then, police have started an inquiry into the incident and have started looking for the perpetrator. Exams for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), which were taken by almost 2.6 million children in 33,000 sites, ended on Wednesday.
Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, announced on Wednesday that exam marking had begun and that results will be available before Christmas. Dr. Belio Kipsang, the principal secretary for Basic Education, added that the three-day exam session was effective and that there were not many teenage pregnancies this year.
