Man Who Defiled 12-Year-Old Daughter Jailed
A court in Lamu has sentenced a 48-year-old father to 20 years in prison for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old daughter. In Ndeu Village, Lamu County, the man repeatedly defiled his daughter on several days between 2020 and August 26, 2022, according to information released by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on Wednesday.
Lamu Principal Magistrate Martin Wachira made a statement during his ruling, stating that he had considered the evidence that had been submitted to him before making his conclusion. The ODPP stated in their statement that “the prosecution, through Prosecution Counsel Rosemary Karanja, presented five witnesses to prove its case and guide the court in convicting and sentencing the accused.”
The grandmother with whom she shared a home sent the girl to the father’s residence to pick up various food supplies, and the father allegedly took advantage of her.After her parents divorced, the daughter moved in with the grandma.
But once her grandmother passed away, her aunt took up the minor’s care. She finally opened up about what had happened to her, at which point the matter was handed over to the police.The ODPP added, “The aunt brought her to the Mpeketoni Sub-county Children’s Office, which forwarded the case to local police before it was moved to the Hindi police station, where the incident took place.”According to the ODPP, the kid suffered from significant emotional trauma and may have long-term psychiatric impacts.A number of men have recently been found guilty of defiling youngsters.
A Nairobi court found a pastor guilty on July 28, 2023, of defiling an 11-year-old boy and his 14-year-old sister on various days nine years prior.Principal Magistrate CM Njagi noted that the prosecution had proven the case beyond a reasonable doubt even if she found the accused guilty.
