Bandits Spray Bullets At A KCPE KPSEA Centre
A number of alarming occurrences have interfered with the country’s annual assessment procedure, which is currently under progress. These examples include cheating scandals, candidates having labor pains during examinations, and even fatal events. The most recent and upsetting incident happened a few hours ago when children at Ng’aratuko Primary School in Baringo North who were taking the Kenya Primary School Leaving Examination (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) were shot by suspected bandits.
51 candidates were registered at Ng’aratuko Primary School, according to credible reports. Of these, 32 were KCPE candidates and 19 were sixth-grade KPSEA candidates.
The Police Commander of Baringo County, Julius Kiragu, confirmed this distressing event and indicated that the attack was carried out by armed criminals who were targeting herders while they were tending to their livestock in a grazing field. Tragically, a 29-year-old herder named Silas Chelimo suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was immediately rushed to Marigat Sub-County Hospital for urgent medical care. The impact on the students, in terms of their safety and well-being, is yet to be fully assessed.
The police chief admitted that it’s still unclear what exactly motivated the shooting. Examination materials had not been secured at the time of the incident, according to an early school assessment. These disturbing events have clouded the already difficult national exam time and raised serious questions regarding the security and safety of students taking these important exams.
