2 Churches Demolished Overnight
Concerns have been raised by the people of Nakuru after two churches were demolished on Monday, October 30, around three in the morning. One of the residents, whose family owns one of the churches, told reporters on Monday that the flattening was caused by a land dispute that dates back to 1985.
She claimed that the demolitions began when unidentified individuals broke into the church and began demolishing the structures. One of the victims told reporters, “The invaders came at around three in the morning, took out all the items and attacked our dad who is currently in the hospital.” “It is still dark for us.
The victim described how the invaders never cared to listen to what our father had to tell them. The victim went on to say that the conflict started in 1985 when her grandmother’s sister sold the property to someone else.
“We are entitled to this land.” The victim related, “We legally own it because we received it from our grandma, who inherited it from her mother. The victim described what happened and pleaded for the federal government to step in and make sure justice was done.
The leaders of the individual churches claimed that they now feel insecure as a result of the wall’s demolition. “We began leasing this land back in 2019, and we spent Ksh1.2 million building the chapel. One of the inhabitants bemoaned, “Now they have taken the seats.”
Authorities have said that inquiries have been made into the situation and are still going on in an effort to determine what caused it. Nothing would be spared, according to police, in their efforts to retrieve the stolen goods.
