Murkomen Confronts Cherargei
On Friday, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei publicly disagreed with Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba, stating that he believed non-local contractors should not be allowed to work on road construction in the Rift Valley. Speaking during the son of Chesumei MP Paul Biego Polo’s burial, Cherargei emphasized that the community would profit from the project and pushed for the awarding of a road project to a local contractor.
In order to support the young people in their employment search, he also mentioned that they will receive training in road construction. “CS, I appreciate you coming. Few people, as you know, are honest with you. Work is not good at Nandi. “Waziri, thank you for the road that is being built, Mosorit,” said Cherargei.
“I’ve heard some individuals express a desire to hire contractors who are from different communities. As we won’t be competitive if we don’t teach our youngsters to be strong contractors, we should prioritize raising contractors,” he said. The original language of this quotation was a colloquial dialect. But Cherargei’s effort did not sit well with the CS, who contended that the request was retrograde and would hurt the residents themselves.
As long as they successfully carry out their allocated duties, Kenyans are free to work anywhere in the nation, according to the CS. The CS, mocking the congressman, contended that such outdated concepts would not have guaranteed President William Ruto’s victory in the elections scheduled for August 2022.
“What about our people in Mombasa and Central who we have awarded large contracts that owe billions of dollars? Do you want to pursue them until they return home? I have brains and a plan, and I’m your teacher,” the CS answered.
“Let’s welcome all contractors to Mosoriot who come to build roads, regardless of whether they are Kisii or not. As the CS, it is my responsibility to guarantee that every road is built correctly,” Murkomen retorted.
Additionally, he asserted that following President William Ruto’s reelection to the Senate in 2022, the Senator soured relations with the latter. Nevertheless, Murkomen withheld further details regarding the purported falling out between Ruto and Cherargei. “Cherargei would not be President if William Ruto had reasoned in the same way as him. He only has one issue.
The CS and former Elgeyo Marakwet Senator bemoaned, “When you came to the Senate, I told you that we should get close to Ruto, but you decided to stay afar.” Felix Koskei, the Chief of Staff and the Head of Public Service, Stephen Sang, the Governor of Nandi, MPs Oscar Sudi (Kapsaret) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), and others were present at the funeral.
