Raila reveals Kalonzo Support in 2027
On Sunday, the leader of Azimio la Umoja made a suggestion that Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper Party, might represent Azimio in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in Siaya County during the birthday celebrations for his brother Oburu Odinga, the former prime minister said that one of him or Kalonzo will represent the coalition in what is anticipated to be a fiercely contested election.
Raila also took advantage of the chance to defend Kalonzo from criticism leveled by President William Ruto, who said that Kalonzo would probably win if chosen as the Coalition’s flagbearer. Further denying Ruto’s claims that the President had supported him more than Kalonzo, the opposition leader backed his co-principal. “This man, we have stood with him together since the KANU regime, we went ahead to NDP, we went to NARC, and even to ODM, and we have stood with him twice fighting,” added Raila.
Raila further lauded the Wiper Party leader for remaining loyal to him and the political formation despite its failure to clinch the presidency.Despite being passed over for the running mate position, Kalonzo remained devoted to Odinga and supported his State House campaign, according to Odinga. The previous time I heard Ruto say that Raila won’t run, I will have time for Kalonzo, said Raila. “The man has courage. He is someone to believe in. He is a Christian, a humble guy, and loving,” Raila remarked.
With his recent remarks, President Ruto, according to the former prime minister, has been trying to create a rift between him and Kalonzo.Odinga claimed that Kalonzo helped him twice in his bid to win the presidency and promised to return the favor in the future.
A week after Kalonzo responded to Ruto’s criticism, Odinga expressed similar comments.Ruto asked Raila to back him in 2027, but Musyoka ignored the request after the Head of State supported him in 2007. Ruto was speaking to churchgoers in Mwingi Township, Kitui County. At the time, Kalonzo argued that Raila owed him more support because she stuck with him throughout everything, as compared to Ruto, who just did so in 2007.
