2024 School Calendar; Half Term & Holidays
Friday saw the announcement of a 42-week academic calendar for pupils in pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools by the Ministry of Education. The schools will start Term One on January 8, 2024, run for 13 weeks, and then end on April 5, 2024, according to the ministry.
From February 29 to March 3, 2024, there will be a three-day half-term holiday for the pupils. At the conclusion of the first term, they will then depart on a three-week vacation from April 8 to April 26.
The students will return to class for the second term on April 29, 2024, following the lengthy break. Following that, they will have a half-term break from June 20 to June 23, 2024. The second term will begin on August 2, 2024, and last for 14 weeks.
This year’s final term, according to the Ministry of Education, will begin on August 26 and last through October 25, 2024. The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) tests will be given from October 28 to October 31, 2024, during the term. On the other hand, candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will take exams from November 4 to November 22. The students will then continue on a protracted break from October 28 until January 3, 2025.
On the other hand, the first term of the colleges for teachers’ training will begin on January 8 and expire on April 5 of 2024. The extended vacation will last for four weeks in April.The second term will start on April 29 and end on August 2, 2024, with the holidays falling on August 5–30.After a break for the long holidays from November 11, 2024 to January 3, 2025, the final term will span from August 26, 2024, to November 8, 2024.
