According to the Ministry of Education’s decision, many preschools, elementary schools, and middle schools in Kenya have changed their vacation dates for November/December, shifting them up to October 19 instead of the originally planned October 27.The date of the holiday has changed, and this is essential since it helps pupils in classes 8 and 4 prepare for the national exams.

Students who choose not to take the national exams must stay at home until  January 8, 2024. The KPSEA and KCPE exams will be administered to sixth- and eighth-graders respectively over a four-day period from October 30 to November 2, 2023.

Exams for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) are expected to start on November 3 and last through November 24, 2023, this year. This year marks the final year of KCPE students under the 8-4-4 system, which has been replaced by a new 2-6-3-3-3 competence-based curriculum.

The KCPE and KCSE exams are likely to be taken this year by almost 2.3 million  candidates, according to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). The KCPE exam will be taken by 1,415,315 candidates, and the KCSE exam will be  taken by 903,260 students.

The KNEC Chief Executive Officer, David Njengere, has confirmed the completion of preparations for the candidates, including 1,282,574 Grade Six students participating in KPSEA.

There will be a total of 1,143 containers used for the KCSE, KCPE, and KPSEA 2023 exams, along with 576 distribution centers for KPSEA and KCPE exams, and 567 containers designated for distributing KCSE exam papers.

223,223 teachers have been chosen by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to act as monitors and invigilators for the 2023 national examinations, while an additional 37,731 teachers have been chosen to act as examiners for the national exams. These educators will start the grading procedure on November 27 and it will last through December 15, 2023.
