Guns Drawn as Kenya Kwanza MCA  Battles Kilifi Woman Rep

After a heated argument between Kilifi Woman Representative Gertrude Mbeyu  and local Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Hassan Mohammed, drama  broke out in the Matsangoni Ward of Kilifi County.

In a video posted , the politician from the Orange  Democratic Movement was speaking to the locals while shunning the MCA who  was ready to speak to the crowd next to her.

Mohammed, a part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition, was told to sit down and wait  for his turn by the female representative. She made fun of the MCA, saying “Have you seen how I look?” and “Are you trying  to compete with me in my style of dressing?” to the audience’s laughs. She said, “Go sit down so I can speak.

The MCA took offense at the remarks and  feigned  to be going to his seat before  he seized the microphone from her. Mohammed was promptly handled by Mbeyu’s  security team, with one of the  bodyguards choked and pulled away from the  incident.

As more security personnel raced to the MCA, they quickly removed him from the Woman Representative. One of the bodyguards withdrew a gun while attempting to take Mohammed down, which caused the situation to worsen. But some of the MCA’s allies hastened to shield him from any more peril.

The emcee responded by attempting to maintain order and prevent politicians from speaking to the audience. Following the commotion, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporter Mbeyu shared a picture to her social media account with the statement, “The MCA has newly entered politics and wants to seize the microphone. Despite complete security, he faced the music.

With the bulk of the areas claiming allegiance to the Azimio alliance, the Coast  region has been embroiled in a struggle for domination. Hassan Mohammed was one of 15 MCAs from the Amason-Kingi-led Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) party to win their seats in the 2022 elections on  the first try. On the other side, Mbeyu, running on behalf of the ODM, also won the parliamentary  seat in her maiden election.
